“WMPC has been great for my condition. Climbing has helped me build up strength and I have met some lifelong friends doing so. It really is fantastic: – Daisy

“I joined the west Midlands Paraclimbing club after having my amputation whilst learning to walk around 5 years ago and never thought I’d be able to do something I used to enjoy before, but with Tigs and Sophie’s experience In climbing I have seen lots of members do things they didn’t think they would be able to do again I have been on three trips with the club twice to Pembrokeshire and another in Llangollen and met some valued lifelong friends.
Thank you WMPC” – Chris

“I was introduced to West Midlands Paraclimbing club by one of my friends. The minute I started to climb the wall, I knew instantly it would help with my cerebral palsy as I am a quadriplegic, which means I am affected in all four of my limbs.
I now get to experience on a regular basis what freedom is like without my wheelchair which is a real eye-opener for me.
It is definitely an engaging atmosphere to meet new people that fast become close friends for life. It’s a brilliant challenge and fun way of keeping up with my physiotherapy.
Thank you for all your support WMPC” – Kerri

“I came across WMPC recently through a Facebook group for people with my disability (h-EDS) and after reaching out, was heartily welcomed. I climbed before my disability affected me and whilst very amateur, used to really enjoy it. I genuinely never thought I would get to do it again but after some surgery and dedicated physio, thought I would give it a go. Everyone has been incredibly supportive and encouraging. There is a wonderful philosophy in the club that encourages members to use the great problem-solving skills we have developed to deal with our disabilities, to help with our climbing. I already feel that I will become a more confident climber than I was before. There is also a great collaborative feel at the club – far greater than I have experienced at climbing clubs and groups previously. I am so glad I found you – thank you for giving me back a sense of adventure I thought was lost to me!” – Michaela
“As a severely sight impaired climber, I had some reservations about taking part but the group was welcoming and helped me every step of the way, for a first timer I wanted to do as much as I could, with help and reassurance I was able to not only take part but also to enjoy myself. I will be back to have another go and would give the guidance I received a 10/10 and I don’t give out 10s easily. Thank you for being so inclusive” – Nicky

“ X climbed today and it was a wonderful experience. Tigs and the team were fantastic, so kind, made me cry. It makes such a difference to work with people who understand disability. I also cried watching X climb as it’s been so long since she has been able to. Tigs taught her to climb using less energy, which is perfect! I’m so happy and very grateful to you for letting us know about the group. Honestly it was the most uplifting and cherished hour we’ve had in years. We’ve had so many battles, with diagnosis, rubbish doctors, education, DWP etc, they make it so hard for us but Tigs, Sophie and Matthew completely neutralised the years of hurt and struggle. So simple and true of heart
” – Nic

“In Hollys words ‘ It’s amazing ‘

“The WMPC found my family through the medical centre my son visits. They heard we were trying out climbing at a local wall and suggested we come to their weekly sessions, since that first visit we have become avid attendees.
Not only has Tigs and the whole team welcomed my son but the entire family. Climbing for Loki has developed from something he was determined to conquer into a focused and liberating sport. The WMPC has the skills, knowledge and passion to develop Loki’s climbing skills and confidence irrelevant of the extra challenges he may face.
A heartfelt thank you to the team and recommendation to anyone – it is possible!” – Rob and Loki
